A fifth-generation Porter County resident, Jeff Larson was born with a passion for building, and throughout his life, he has dedicated himself to building a better future for his fellow Hoosiers. He and his wife Jane reside in Duneland with their daughter Julia. He strongly believes building community and consensus can help all Hoosiers achieve the American dream.

Thanks to apprenticeships from various labor organizations, Jeff built a career in multiple jobs, including a union laborer, steelworker, and mason. Jeff used the experience gained from these programs to help develop a small business as a home builder. He has been a contractor for more than 30 years, and he understands how to balance a budget and make payroll. He is pro-Labor because he understands how critical training our workforce is to keep our economy growing.

He also has a passion for helping others build their careers. That’s why he became a teacher. He loves watching students learn and succeed, and he believes we need to bring vocational education back to our schools to build a strong local economy and a better workforce for tomorrow.

Jeff also believes in building collaboration and community. As a county council member and a volunteer police officer, Jeff has worked with other leaders to address multiple issues affecting our community, including public safety, drug abuse, school funding, and workforce development. He has also served our community as a member of several local organizations, including the Park Foundation, the Chesterton Cemetery Board, and NIRPC. Jeff was named 2019 Volunteer of the Year by the Duneland Chamber of Commerce.
